Talented team members at The Hidden Garden reveal their favorite winter floral trends. At Montage Hotels & Resorts, every detail of a guest’s stay is meticulously thought through, even down to the floral arrangements. Since 2012, Los Angeles’ The Hidden Garden has served as the exclusive in-house florist for Montage Beverly Hills. “We have staff on-site at the hotel every single day,” says The Hidden Garden General Manager Taylor Maligmat. “We refresh the lobby and common areas very early each morning, and also deliver room flowers to housekeeping for VIP guests. That delivery can be anywhere from five to 50 arrangements, depending on the day.” Although there are certain elements that make up a quintessential Montage floral display— “Tons of rich color, textures and a variety of flower choices. We always try to design with the hotel architecture in mind, playing off the Tuscan and Mediterranean vibe,” Maligmat explains—there are also slight changes dependent on the time of year. Here, she shares The Hidden Garden’s favorite floral trends for this winter season. HOLIDAY ELEGANCE “Incorporate a little more than the traditional white. Soft muted tones like champagne, mercury and rose gold create a rich and luxurious look without feeling heavy. Flocked branches also add a dramatic effect to any decor. This look can be accented with ornaments, ribbon, fabric and votive candles.” RUSTIC-CHIC “Incorporating natural elements like pine cones, birch ribbon, wood carved trees, driftwood and magnolia branches into your winter decor creates an impressive and understated design.” CLASSIC WITH A TWIST “Trade in traditional red for burgundy flowers like amaryllis, peonies and dahlias, and use deeper shades of browns, rusts and coppers—such as Charlie Brown cymbidiums, rust mini calla lilies, and Coffee Break roses—in place of gold. This color palette will transform your usual holiday look into something more eye-catching. The richer shades will make you want to grab a blanket, cozy up by the fireplace and enjoy all of the things that make the holidays so special."
