WELCOME TO THE INAUGURAL ISSUE OF PENDRY MAGAZINE! When we opened Montage in 2002, our aim was to fill a need in the market for a gracious and humble approach to luxury. While the Montage brand continues to resonate, today we hope to add another exciting element to the ever-evolving hospitality landscape. Pendry Hotels is that addition, created for modern travelers who appreciate classic comfort with a contemporary edge. The latest in the lineage of Montage Hotels & Resorts, Pendry Hotels offers the same commitment to service along with authentic experiences, while embracing the art, music, design, eccentricities and culture of the cities that serve as our backdrop. In San Diego, where the bustling Gaslamp Quarter is a hub of culture, art and nightlife, we’ve collaborated with entertainment architect Andy Masi on three dining and social hubs inside Pendry San Diego. In this issue, we speak to Masi about his unique take on the industry and share his plans for our first hotel. We also explore Baltimore, a coastal city brimming with some of the country’s top dining and drinking establishments. We’ve enlisted the help of James Beard Awardwinning chef and restaurateur Andrew Carmellini to helm the kitchen at The Rec Pier Chop House at Sagamore Pendry Baltimore—and in this issue he opens up about his culinary path and what diners can expect from his latest endeavor. We are thrilled to now welcome you to Pendry Hotels and the first issue of Pendry Magazine. We hope to continue to inspire your travels and assist you in creating your own unforgettable stories for many years to come. Sincerely, Alan J.
