OFF THE MALL DC’s iconic marble monuments are a surefire win when it comes to your wedding photos, but there are plenty of other places around town that will make you and your beloved standout. Check out these ideas from three local wedding photographers. UNDER THE BIG TOP From far left: Cassidy Duhon (duhonphotography.com) likes to photograph couples at Glen Echo because “it has a fun, vintage look,” he says; posing at Glen Echo “reminds them that wedding photos don’t all have to be entirely serious,” says Duhon; he also likes the bridge at Yards Park because “it looks like a spiraling tunnel through space, and it’s such a departure from the more classic architecture you usually see in DC.” HITCH A RIDE From left: Rodney Bailey (rodneybailey.com) suggests a favorite bar “for the couple who wants to kick back”; a pedicab, because “it’s a unique way of getting around town”; or Pershing Park in spring for the cherry blossoms without the crowds around the Tidal Basin. MOD MARRIAGE From far left: Michelle VanTine (michellevantinephotography.Com) recommends Embassy Suites by Hilton for its modern decor and many “photoworthy spots around the hotel,” like these bright-orange chairs and hip curtains in the lobby; she likes to take couples to DAR Constitution Hall because it boasts traditional DC architecture for the “classically minded couple.” Plus, “the DAR building is located just off the Mall and offers a spectacular view and easy access to iconic DC spots if you also want those photos,” says VanTine. “Embassy Suites is in the heart of DC and has uber cool modern décor with great photo-worthy spots.” –Photographer Michelle VanTine
