Austin made Forbes’ list of “Best Education in the Biggest Cities” when evaluated using factors such as the high School graduation rate, the affordability of housing, and the best access to educational resources. Business and education leaders work together to support a shared vision And the future economic success of the region. That vision is now a reality thanks in part to a regional initiative, encompassing 15 school districts and 10 higher education institutions, designed to ensure that employers have the talent they need to power their companies’ growth. A Chamber-led education initiative aimed at boosting college enrollment has enjoyed great success, thanks to the hard work of ground-level school district college enrollment managers and other key educators, as well as business leaders. A new goal of 70 percent direct-to-college enrollment—“DTC70”—has been set for the class of 2017, up from 62 percent for the class of 2010.
