The population of Leander is 46,659 and is expected to pass the 50,000 mark by the end of January 2017. The city is now recognized as the fastest-growing city in the United States with a population over 15,000 and has the resources in place to eventually serve a population of 250,000. Growth in Leander is driven by a low cost of living (4.7 percent lower than average), an award-winning school system, participation in the Cap Metro System (providing commuter rail service into downtown Austin), and access to Highway 183-A, one of the lesser congested routes into the heart of Austin. The city also benefits from easy access to the Texas Hill Country and the less-crowded western side of the Lake District. Leander’s Transit Oriented Development (TOD) district construction has begun on a 100-acre Austin Community College campus—designed to serve 12,500 students at full build out—and construction on a new St. David’s Hospital facility will begin soon. Today Leander has over 80 primary employers, with more than 1,800 employees representing diverse business operations from floriculture to defense contracting. WHY CHOSE LEANDER? 1. Easy access to downtown Austin via the area’s commuter rail lines and one of the area’s leastcongested vehicle routes. 2. An award-winning K-12 school system, with a new higher education facility scheduled to open in the fall of 2018. 3. It is the fastest growing city in the nation with a population of more than 15,000. 4. Immediate access to the rural amenities the Texas Hill Country is famous for.
