Discover the stunning locales near Montage properties by venturing out on these distinct hiking trails. The best way to get better acquainted with a new area is on foot—exploring and hiking in beautiful locations can be sheer bliss. Montage Hotels & Resorts offer a diverse array of trails, from flat, seaside pathways for novice adventurers to mountainous excursions for more advanced hikers. Ben Auerbach, award-winning runner, hiker and personal trainer at Montage Kapalua Bay, says a successful hike means mapping out a route or bringing a guidebook. “Don’t worry too much if you go a little off the path, as long as you have a general idea of how to get back where you started,” Auerbach says. “Tell someone when and where you’re going so they know your general location in case you get lost.” Andy Damman, corporate director, recreation at Montage International, says a good pair of shoes is a must for a day of exploring. He recommends the Salomon XA Pro series or the Scott Kinabalu Enduro shoe for ample comfort and grip on long hikes in various conditions. And finally, pack light, but be prepared. Bring water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, and long sleeves and pants if necessary. And always keep note of the time and the weather so you aren’t hiking back in a rainstorm or in the dark. With proper preparation, a hiking adventure near any of the Montage properties can easily become a highlight of your stay. MONTAGE PALMETTO BLUFF The easy 3-mile River Road Trail rambles through the River Road Preserve to the village of Moorland.
