Hearts of Montage has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry, helping to make a difference in the lives of local children. For more than a decade, Hearts of Montage has given resort staff the chance to make a difference and empower those in the local community, aiding in everything from education and senior care to disease prevention and environmental protection. The collaboration between Montage Palmetto Bluff and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry—specifically the Bluffton club—has resulted in a special partnership. Throughout the year, the resort takes part in events and activities that help raise both funds and supplies for the local club, which encourages youth to aspire to be academically successful while also stressing the importance of health and happiness. “The Boys & Girls Club has been a longtime anchor within the community, serving as a valuable resource for the youth of Bluffton, including children of Montage Palmetto Bluff associates,” says Marcus Jackson, general manager of Montage Palmetto Bluff. “The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is in perfect alignment with Hearts of Montage as both organizations have a passion to care for their local community.” In 2017, staff members helped out during the themed Boys & Girls Club Week in April, volunteering with projects like sports or arts and crafts as well as the barbecue at the finale party. In August, staff helped make the center as good as new during the Boys & Girls Club Clean Up Day and hosted a Bowling for Backpacks event at the resort, where members could donate school items in exchange for a night of free bowling. During the fall, the staff also helped out during the club’s Thanksgiving chili dinner. In addition to donating time and effort, Montage Palmetto Bluff often donates the use of the resort for the club’s special events. The Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament was hosted on the Montage course in September, including the donation of things like golf clubs and carts, allowing the organization to raise funds. Another fundraiser, the annual Boys & Girls Club Gala, also took place at Montage Palmetto Bluff this year. The resort donated the use of its ballroom for the May 2017 event, which sold nearly 300 tickets, in addition to a few nights’ stay at the hotel for the gala’s auction, resulting in more than $75,000 for the local club from one night alone. But it doesn’t end there. The resort is also involved in a special end-of-the-year Boys & Girls Club Christmas Celebration, which will feature Santa’s workshop, a family dinner, toys for the children and holiday decorations—before continuing the partnership all over again in 2018.
