NONPROFIT PROFILE Donte’s Den Presenting a first-ever Easter Dog Paw-rade for the organization that provides a loving home, shelter and care for dogs who, for any number of reasons, can no longer live at home. On Saturday, March 24, Donte’s Den and HARBOR STYLE Magazine invite all dogs and the people who love them to a first-ever event – an Easter Dog Paw-rade at Four Point Sheraton in Punta Gorda. The event will begin at 1 p.m. on the great lawn near the Tiki by the waterfront with a mix and mingle followed by a fun Easter egg hunt. The Punta Gorda Police K-9 Units will be on hand to give a demonstration of their four-legged officers, and at 2 p.m., the Dog Show begins. Owners and their pups are invited to participate in a Westminster-type dog show that will include four classes – Best Easter Bonnet, Best Twinsies (where the dog and owner dress as “twins” – big imaginations welcome), Best Tail Wagger and Best Hair. Judges include Punta Gorda’s new Chief of Police Pamela Davis, Vice Mayor Gary Wein and HARBOR STYLE Editorial Director Liz Green. There will be honors and prizes for the winners, plus there is a silent auction of a limited edition kids Porsche push car, donated by Porsche. Following the judging, the Best-in-Show winner will be the Grand Marshall of the Grand Paw-rade around the great lawn and Tiki of the Four Points Sheraton hotel, a sight to behold for certain. Everyone is invited! Be a participant or just a spectator. There is a $20 admission fee, which includes appetizers and light food, and the dog show entry fee is an additional $25 per class that you and your dog wish to enter. All proceeds from the Easter Dog Paw-rade will benefit the work of Donte’s Den, a canine sanctuary of 50 pristine, peaceful acres near the sleepy, small town of Myakka City – a unique resort designed for the care and well-being of dogs who, for any number of reasons, can no longer live at home. Donte’s Den is a state-of-the-art facility complete with large dens, each of which have an outdoor porch, an on-site veterinary hospital, a pool designed just for dogs and plenty of room to run. It’s the only facility anywhere that provides a plush, home-like setting and quality, long-term and permanent care for canine companions separated from their owners due to the owners’ illness, injury, death, homelessness, long-term travel, hospitalization (planned or unexpected) or military service deployment. The vision of dog-lover and founder ADVERTISING FEATURE Marsha Panuce, Donte’s Den also comes to the aid of abandoned dogs, providing them with a temporary home and, through their Joyful Dogs Adoption Program, works toward finding them a new home with a loving family. Panuce and her colleagues will be on hand to answer all your questions and help you learn more about Donte’s Den, a truly unique resource for all dog lovers. Join Donte’s Den and HARBOR STYLE, Saturday, March 24 for an historic, first-ever Easter Paw-rade! Register your pup online at DontesDen.org. H ARBOR STYLE | 25
